IVADO aims to bring together industry professionals and academic researchers to develop cutting-edge expertise in data science, operational research and artificial intelligence. IVADO members provide data management methods and inform decision making for optimal resource use. In essence, IVADO creates opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaborations between the specialists, partners, researchers and students in its network.
IVADO’s objective is to be the link between academic expertise and the business needs of organizations, from international corporations to start-ups. With over 1000 affiliated scientists (researchers, post-docs, PhD candidates and research associates), IVADO is an advanced multidisciplinary centre for knowledge in sectors including statistics, business intelligence, deep learning, applied mathematics, data mining and cybersecurity. The institute therefore supports the development of processes to extract trends, metrics and concrete information from the jumble of big data.
The Institute for Data Valorisation (IVADO) aims to:
Make Montréal and Québec international economic and scientific hubs for research, training, technology transfer and added-value generation and the creation of organizations and employment driven by data processing for decision making.
IVADO was created out of an academic and industrial initiative as part of Campus Montréal, which brings together HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and l’Université de Montréal. The centre’s key early members in the corporate sector are Hydro-Québec, CAE, Cogeco, Thales, National Bank of Canada and Gaz Métro from the industry and the GERAD, the CIRRELT, the MILA, the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Data Science for Real-Time Decision-Making, the Department of Computer Sciences and Operations Research at Université de Montréal, the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, Tech3Lab, the Centre de recherches mathématiques and the Department of Decision Sciences at HEC Montréal in the academic sector.
