Virginie Calderon

Biography

After a PhD in Bioinformatics on bacterial genomic evolution, Virginie Calderon came to Canada to continue her research in evolutionary genomics with a post-doctorate at UdeM and CHU Sainte-Justine. Her research has focused on the detection of codon reassignments in genomes by machine learning approach and the study of hepatitis C virus evolution and transmission during pregnancy. Following her post-doc, she was recruited at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute as head of the Bioinformatics core facility to offer bioinformatics analysis, training and consulting to the internal, external and industrial communities. Projects focus mainly on NGS data analysis (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, WGS, WGBS, metagenomic …). Virginie is also committed to passing on to students with 10 years of teaching experience in university. She is currently a lecturer at UQAM in the computer science department.
