Biography
Maia is a bioinformatics developer at Streamline Genomics. During her B.Sc. of Biology at the University of British Colombia she focused on the biodiversity of protists through the assembly of novel transcriptomes. Maia continued her research in genome evolution, doing her M.Sc. in bioinformatics at McGill University, where she investigated the evolution of introns in plant species using comparative genomics. Prior to joining Streamline Genomics, Maia was a Bioinformatics Scientist at My Intelligent Machines, where she worked with integrating publicly available databases with the analytics pipeline to contextualize the results. She is driven to provide analyses and visualizations that help a researcher understand their results, without sacrificing quality of analyses by using top-tier protocols.
